ANIMAL WELFARE LEAGUE Pet of the Week
All the cats and dogs that are available for adoption from the AWL have been desexed, microchipped,
vaccinated and health checked and are ready to go. The adoption cost starts at $50.
The pets may be at one of three AWL locations - Wingfield, Port Adelaide or Edinburgh North
Adoption opening times: 7 days a week, 10am - 3pm

Fiction Fundamentals Workshop
Samantha Bond, professional published author and experienced
creative writing teacher is presenting this beginner to intermediate
course of six workshops. Topics will cover the fundamental
building blocks of writing fiction. Participants can attend all six workshops, or just a few. The benefit of attending all six is that you’ll get a holistic overview of what goes into writing a novel or short story.
Week 1 - Wednesday 15th March 7 - 9pm
Story, theme and generating ideas: ways to get great ideas and how to string them together.
Plot: how fiction is shaped and the causal link between character actions and story.
Week 2 - Wednesday 19th April 7 - 9pm
Characters and Conflict.
Week 3 - Wednesday 17th May 7 – 9pm
Point of view and tense, Authorial voice.
Week 4 - Wednesday 21st May 7 – 9pm
Dialogue, setting: use the five senses to create your own story world.
Week 5 - Wednesday 19th July 7 – 9pm
Show, don’t tell: the golden rule of writing explained and demonstrated.
Week 6 – Wednesday 16th August 7 – 9pm
Editing: tricks of the trade to perfect your manuscript.
The querying process: how do you write an effective synopsis and cover letter?

12th Annual Gumeracha Antique Fair
The annual Antique Fair at Gumeracha’s town hall has been held with great success for the past 11 years - this year’s fair will be not exception!! With a large range of antiquies and treasures, this year’s fair is not to be missed!

COME AND TRY TABLE TENNIS!
Flaxley Table Tennis Club are looking for new players to come and play table tennis. They have regular competition games on Wednesday nights at 7.30pm starting on April 26th, with practice on Monday nights.

Do you know someone inspiring, whose actions support the environmental health of the region, who selflessly gives their time and skills, who inspires others to lead a sustainable lifestyle, without seeking recognition or compensation? If so, please consider nominating them for a Quiet Green Achiever Award.

HELP SAVE SA THREATENED PLANT SPECIES
Trees for Life are seeking volunteer community members to help care for and monitor five threatened plant species from Goolwa to Monarto. All but one of these species are only found in South Australia. Interested volunteers will be trained to monitor and collect data on these special plants, and this will be supported by a weed reduction program.

FESTIVAL OF FLOWERS
Come along to SA's largest flower show where 11 plant societies have come together for a huge Autumn Show. These include African Violets, Bonsai, Bromeliads, Begonias, Pelargoniums, Fuschias, Ferns, Carniverous plants, Cacti & Cottage plants, Geraniums, and Orchids. There will be cultural demonstrations throughout the weekend and helpful advice available from experienced growers, along with a sausage sizzle, refreshments and a giant raffle.

HOPE RIDE for WATER
Come along on Sunday 23rd April at 1.30pm and join in with the Stage One of HOPE RIDE for WATER or you can be their to support the cyclist on their send off !! A team of cyclists will be riding for Nairne to Mildura in April to raise funds to provide a bore and rainwater tanks for clean water at Bwikaragye HOPE Primary school in Uganda . The ride departs at 2pm from NAIRNE (72 Main Street ) car park at the Soldiers Memorial Hall to MURRAY BRIDGE for Australia HOPE International.
