Kiwanis Second Hand Book Shop
The Kiwanis Club of the Adelaide Hills has opened a second-hand Book Shop in Mt Barker.
Where: 4 Albert Place (behind Dan Murphy’s)
Opening Hours: Wednesday – Friday 10am – 4pm, Saturday 10am – 1pm
There is a wide range of affordable fiction and non-fiction books as well as DVDs, CDs and magazines.
Donations of pre-loved books are gratefully accepted during business hours.
All money raised supports the local community.
ANIMAL WELFARE LEAGUE Pet of the Week
All the cats and dogs that are available for adoption from the AWL have been desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and health checked and are ready to go.
The adoption cost starts at $50.
The pets may be at one of three AWL locations - Wingfield, Port Adelaide or Edinburgh North

QUIET GREEN ACHIEVER AWARDS
The Adelaide Hills Natural Resource Centre is calling for nominations for the 6th annual Quiet Green Achievers Award.
This award recognises deserving people in the local community who are quietly doing something that benefits the environment. The winners receive the award at an informal public event held on June 2nd, to coincide with World Environment Day.

ANZAC DAY - Echunga
The Echunga RSL is holding an;
ANZAC DAY VIGIL on Tuesday April 24th at 6pm.
The youth of the Adelaide Hills will guard the monument overnight and hand over to the army just before the;
ANZAC DAY service on Wednesday April 25th at 5.45am.
The public are invited to the dawn service, after which a parade will march to the Echunga Community Hall.
Breakfast and coffee will be available afterwards.

SCULPTURE FOR INTERIORS & GARDENS III
The Rotary Club of Stirling is holding its third annual sculpture exhibition, Sculpture for Interiors & Gardens
At Stangate House in Aldgate
From April 27th - 11am to May 6th - 5pm
Come along and see a stunning display of sculpture in the house and scattered throughout the lawns and garden.
Guest exhibitor is Ben Tolhurst, alongside more than twenty of SA's finest sculptors.
There will be a pop up cellar door, silent auction, raffle, and a Family Event on Sunday April 29th.
Funds raised are supporting the ShelterBox charity.

NAIRNE OPENS ITS HISTORIC MAIN STREET FOR HISTORY
Visit historic Main Street of Nairne during the 2018 History Festival, (Saturday April 28 to Sunday May 27)
Every weekend during the Festival, the Nairne Museum will be open from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
During the opening weekend of April 28th and 29th, many historic buildings will be accessible as part of “Open Doors”.
Take a self-guided walking tour, using the Nairne Mural and Historic Walk brochure available at the Museum and local businesses.
Visit local shops, cafes and restaurants of the Main Street will be open for refreshments and browsing.

Mt Barker Council has declared the Glebe a park for residents of the district to enjoy.
It has a handful of mature gums however, with the support of Mount Barker District Council, the local community is ready to commence revegetating the park.
Littlehampton Community Association is planning a community tree planting day in May.
Members of the community can register their interest in planting their “own” family tree or trees on the Glebe. By emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Council and the LCA will provide the tree, dig the hole and supply a staked tree guard –all you need do is turn up on the Glebe, choose your tree, plant it and give it a drink.
